Foraging and Wild Cooking Experiences

Learn to forage in Cornwall’s wild places

On a walk with Stuart you will learn how to safely identify and gather seasonal wild plants, fungi and seaweeds; their medicinal properties, and everyday recipe ideas you can make at home.

Wild food is all around us, and is a wonderful way in which to connect to our environment.

You will also get to enjoy some homemade wild food delights prepared by Stuart that showcase the wild ingredients you will have learned about on your adventure.

Stuart has been teaching foraging courses in Cornwall and Devon for over 10 years and is widely considered one of the foremost wild food educators in the South West.

He has worked previously with renowned organisations such as Riverford, Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan and the National Trust, amongst others. He is currently head instructor and resident chef for 7th Rise, part of the ‘Ocean Well-being Project’, run by Clean Ocean Sailing, and an advocate for living eco-consciously.

FAQs for Foraging

What to Wear and Bring?

As the walks are taking place in the outdoors, please ensure sensible flat shoes with grip are worn such as trainers, hiking shoes or wellies for those wetter days. Always a good idea to bring a waterproof too. You may also want to bring something to carry your delicious finds in such as a basket or fabric bag. Lastly, if you wanted to record/draw any of your finds you may want to have a notebook or camera with you.

Dietary requirements?

The food Stuart prepares on a foraging walk is always vegetarian, and can easily be vegan and gluten free, just let us know!

If you have any dietary requirements please let Stuart know via the contact form or by emailing woodmanswildfood@gmail.com. Most requirements can be met. However, all food is prepared in a kitchen that handles nuts and other allergens.

What if it’s Raining?

Walks will only be cancelled in extreme weather conditions. Ensure you wear appropriate clothing and footwear, the Cornish weather is always a little unpredictable, even at the best of times!

Dogs?

All walks are dog friendly, but we ask that they are kept on a lead during the walk.

Refunds?

We do not currently offer refunds. If you find you are unable to attend please do contact Stuart via email woodmanswildfood@gmail.com and we will do our best to reschedule your walk for a different day.
